Personality

A dreamer at heart, Azure is analytical and loves finding out more about the world around them. They have a sense of wonder that confounds almost everyone who meets them, especially their love for asking any question they can think of. In contrast, they also love answering questions from others, and is always honest whenever they don’t know the answer to something. This questioning nature of theirs is not for no good use; their desire to know as much as they can aids them greatly, considering their need to always have a good plan for any challenge they are faced with. They prefer to know everything about a situation before they get into it, and can get quite panicky if things change unexpectedly in the middle of whatever’s going on, as they will then need to think up a new solution on the spot. Quick thinking is their forte; quick planning is not. They like to have as much time as possible to think of and formulate a plan, in order to consider any faults or inconsistencies that may pop up.

Azure is always willing to help anyone who needs it, whether it be answering a question they have or dropping everything to solve a problem for them. This desire to help others is admirable, but not always the smartest move, especially since - despite their fast thinking and extraordinary analysis capabilities - they can be a bit dense when it comes to recognizing that not everyone they meet has their best interests at heart. It’s landed them in tough situations before, but they see every mistake as another learning opportunity, and once they’re taught a lesson, they never forget it - but they do fluster easily, and can get quite defensive if they feel they are being attacked or mocked.

Their remarkable memory is simply disguised as a blessing though; it is really more of a curse, as it can lead them to dwell on mistakes they have made several months or even years prior, thinking endlessly about what they should have said or done differently. These mistakes they dwell on are often terrible ones, which have led to others getting hurt physically or emotionally. Little accidents, like forgetting someone’s name or answering a question wrong on a test, are easily brushed off. Big mistakes, like telling someone something and them getting hurt because they were wrong, are harder to forget. If it were to happen to Azure themself, it would almost be easier; it’s when their own faults end up affecting others that they really start to spiral. The last thing Azure wants to do is hurt someone, but they are human and will always make mistakes, and sometimes those mistakes will hurt others. If only they could accept that, and not blame themself for everything that goes wrong around them.

About

Azure’s immediate family is a godsend - no pun intended. Born and raised in Texas and as a Christian, they’re honestly pretty happy with where they are in life. They’re comfortable with their identity, both in terms of queerness and religion, and their family accepts them wholeheartedly. It doesn’t mean everything’s perfect, though. Their parents and younger sister Mitzi are great, but the same can’t be said for their older brother Casey. He’s got a lot of problems, and Azure tries not to hold it against him, because they know it’s not his fault, but he has a tendency to lash out at anyone and everyone around them if he thinks they’ve slighted him. As such, Azure tries to ignore him the best they can, and they deal with him very carefully when they must.

On the other hand, Mitzi’s confrontational nature and pride lead to her fighting back against him whenever he attacks her (or Azure), and they’ll get into arguments about anything. Their parents try their best to reign it in, but they’re easily overpowered and will always resign themselves to waiting it out. Azure hates the fighting. They try to distract themself whenever it happens, but it never works. They’re just waiting until Casey goes off to college. In the meantime, they’ve found a little bit of solace in researching psychology, as trying to figure out exactly what’s happening and what the cause is helps a little bit in their understanding and dealing with the situation.
