Personality

Cold and contemptuous when you first meet her, Ren is certainly an enigma. She’s consistently dismissive towards almost everyone she comes across, even those who she wants to get to know, and the people who fall into that category number few. Her outward demeanor - that is, one of pure disdain and indifference - tends to drive others away, which she is, silently, quite thankful for. Not that she’s entirely opposed to people who manage to look past her tough exterior and see her for who she really is. In fact, it’s probably for the best that someone who she wants to grow close to is the one to initiate it - if it were Ren who was responsible for that part, she would most definitely just end up pushing them away from her subconsciously.

She has no desire whatsoever to develop attachments to anyone. She’s perfectly fine taking care of herself, thank you very much, and anyone who disagrees is perfectly welcome to fight her about it. Which is another problem entirely; Ren is always ready for a fight, no matter how insignificant the thing they’re fighting over may be. It seems as if she simply enjoys the thrill of battle (or is it that she feels the need to prove her worth?). Regardless, she jumps into battle with an almost unrestrained fervor, completely letting loose of anything that may be bothering her and putting her all into it. It makes sense why she’d enjoy it so much, really, what with having no one to talk to and thus no other outlet for her emotions.

And yet, despite her hesitance to grow close to anyone, Ren frequently finds herself… not warming up to others, but at least feeling a vague semblance of sympathy for them and their plights. Increased exposure to those of a softer nature can leave her feeling a bit less rigid and at times even happy; nevertheless, she maintains her composure at (almost) all times, rarely letting her guard down even around those she does consider herself to be close to. Though her friends may number few, Ren is fiercely protective of them, willing to put herself in danger just to make sure they’re safe - and considering her skewed sense of danger and love for a good fight, she puts herself in danger a lot more than she should. But it’s all for good reason, right?

About

Ren was born in a Primary Village west of Circuit County, hatching as a Relemon. She was always a bit of a loner, never paying much attention to any of the other babies there or even the TobuCatmon caretaker, despite their attempts to get her to open up. As soon as she evolved to Viximon, she left without a goodbye, setting out on her own to see the world she had longed to live in for all her life. She knew that, one day, there was someone she was supposed to meet and protect, but until then, she was determined to take care of herself. She’d find them eventually, she told herself.

Upon evolving to Renamon, she met another Digimon who quickly took her under their proverbial wing. She was hesitant at first to travel with another Digimon, but through their insistence, she eventually warmed up to them. They traveled together on-and-off for a few years, until one day the other Digimon left without even saying goodbye. At first, Ren was hurt, but she quickly moved past it; the experience had only solidified her desire to survive on her own. For the next few years, she lived as a loner, avoiding other Digimon as best as she could. She’d never really been one to make friends easily, and she’d always been able to take care of herself without anyone else’s help. That wasn’t going to change anytime soon - or so she thought.
